Use of long-term acute care hospital after critical illness increases

The U.S. has an increasing number of long-term acute care hospitals, where patients are transferred after a critical illness. However, a study in the June 9 issue of JAMA notes that survival for Medicare beneficiaries transferred to these facilities is “poor.” Read more at http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/303/22/2253.
