This year, we are focusing on the incredible power of nurses, and the vital role storytelling plays in advocacy. Sharing your lived experiences is a powerful way to connect with legislators and influence decisions that impact nursing and healthcare.
Storytelling touches human emotions, encouraging people to acknowledge your reality and take meaningful action. By sharing your story, you show that all nurses matter, inspiring colleagues, supervisors, legislators, and the public to understand and support the nursing profession.
As the Legislature convenes in February, critical issues affecting nurses and nursing practice will be on the agenda, including Surgical Smoke and APRN Transition to Practice. Legislators need to hear directly from nurses to understand how their decisions impact patient care and the nursing workforce.
Currently, only two nurses, Marilyn Stark and Cindy Roe, serve in the House of Representatives. They rely on our support to educate their fellow legislators about the needs of nurses and the importance of policies that promote safe, high-quality care.
