A recent study published in the Hepatology journal of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases investigates if indole, a microbiota metabolite may help alleviate inflammation and diet-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
Indole exerts anti-inflammatory responses, but there has been little research into its relevance or effect on NAFLD. The research was conducted on mice, and ultimately revealed that indole is “capable of alleviating diet-induced NAFLD.”
These results may aid in future research of NAFLD.
