RNs stay close to home after graduation

More than half (52.5%) of newly licensed RNs in 15 states work within 40 miles of where they attended high school according to a study in Health Affairs. To ensure underserved areas have an adequate workforce, the study authors recommend countering the effect of limited mobility with strategies such as expanding the number of education programs and offering financial incentives to attract RNs in these areas.
