Nurses in Action

By: Nan Morgan, MS, RN

New name, but same nursing professional connections

In October, what has been known as DNA 16 (the Denver and eastern district of Colorado Nurses) met and approved moving to a Constituent Association (CA) under the new bylaws of CNA. The name, Nurses in Action, was selected to represent the activities this group historically plans and accomplishes. Joining Nurses in Action in “My CNA” is easiest by sending an email to our Executive Director Mark Longshore at mark@coloradonurses.org. Mark has the power to enroll you in Nurses in Action (and Nurses Furthering Knowledge, as well). More material is posted in our “Group” when you log into My CNA. We have a photo banner in My CNA.

Although mostly local to the Denver metro area, the group is willing to travel to support Colorado Nurses throughout the state. Contact us if you are looking for volunteers for almost anything involving nursing and/or community support, we might be able to help. In return, feel free to join us in Nurses in Action activities such as the Denver 2025 St Patrick’s Day Parade on March 15th, 2025.  Watch for a Project Cure volunteer date with UCHealth Nurses, and of course, we love to participate in the CNA Nurses Day at the Capitol in February. We are always up for a Rockies game with Healthcare Appreciation in May, an activity that funds one or more nursing scholarships with the Colorado Nurses Foundation. We plan to continue to honor Eleanor Bent, RN, BSN (CNA Hall of Fame awardee) with an annual ongoing scholarship.  Watch for information about upcoming events. Feel free to send suggestions, but most of all, JOIN US. Our mission is networking, social opportunities, community services, and education for nurses. Face-to-face connection is a secondary mission as we look to have some fun with this nursing community.

By the time of this publication, we will have met in January at a local library to fill the 2025 calendar. Nan Morgan is the Chairperson and can be reached at: 303.905.9906 or nanmrn@msn.com
