Joint Commission 2017 sentinel event statistics

The Joint Commission reviewed 805 reports of sentinel events in 2017, including 116 for unintended retention of a foreign body, 114 falls, and 32 medication errors. Most of the events were self-reported, and The Joint Commission worked with the organizations to develop a plan to avoid future events. You can read more here.
