It’s my understanding that a nurse’s primary commitment is to our patients. Recently, while working as a travel nurse, I’ve been concerned about some patients’ treatment plans and care plans and witnessed several unsafe discharges. When nurses tried to advocate for these patients, they were told to be a team player and not rock the boat. In other instances, when I spoke up to a nurse manager about a concern with a patient’s plan of care, I became the problem. Does the Code of Ethics for Nurses (Code) address this?
