Biological clocks in digestive organs may be reason for metabolism disruption with shift work

Biological clocks (peripheral oscillators) in the liver, gut, and pancreas may be the reason for disruption of metabolism in people who work night shifts, according to a study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Working night shifts increases risk of obesity, diabetes, and other disorders.
