All of us at HealthCom Media are extremely fortunate to have worked closely with American Nurse Today’s founding Editor-in-Chief Pam Cipriano. Over the last 8 years, Pam has helped mold American Nurse Today into the award-winning, trusted, and leading journal in the general nursing market that it is today. We will miss our frequent interactions and amazing friendship with Pam, which have kept this exciting and challenging ride so rewarding.

Pam has been a gifted Editor-in-Chief. Her savvy, intuitive approach created a vibrant connection with the American Nurses Association’s (ANA’s) highly influential nurse community. Pam joined the American Nurse Today team when the journal was still in its conceptual stages. She worked closely with ANA and HealthCom Media to develop the footprint for what would become a well-respected, peer-reviewed source of accurate, up-to-date content for the nursing profession. We are grateful to Pam for her tireless efforts in helping us reach our goal of editorial excellence. Clearly, Pam is a leading advocate for nurses across all practice settings. We’ve been blessed to have had nearly 100 thoughtful editorials written by her, giving us a glimpse into the wonderful vault of knowledge she has gained throughout her remarkable career.

Pam has served in various positions in national, regional, state, and local nursing and healthcare organizations, starting with her role as president of the National Student Nurses Association. Working for ANA, she led commissions, cabinets, committees, and task forces and served on the board and as treasurer. She then became an active Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Later, she was selected as Distinguished Nurse Scholar in Residence at the Institute of Medicine, where she contributed to a major study and influenced the process of electronic quality-measure development.

Now, Pam leaves American Nurse Today to take on new and exciting challenges. I have no doubt the nursing profession will flourish during this exciting time in healthcare thanks to her continued leadership.

Fortunately, we have a familiar face stepping into the Editor-in-Chief role. Lillee Gelinas has served on American Nurse Today’s editorial board since the journal’s inception, so we’ve already benefited from her years of national and international nursing expertise. She serves as system vice president and chief nursing officer of CHRISTUS Health and is a well-respected thought leader on healthcare management, clinical issues, and patient safety and quality issues. Lillee’s many other roles include member of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services Nursing Steering Committee, member of the board of directors for the National Patient Safety Foundation, and member of the Nursing Advisory Council of The Joint Commission. Those of us at HealthCom-and, most importantly, American Nurse Today readers-will greatly benefit from her leadership as Editor-in-Chief.

Thank you, Pam, for your service. As it turns out, it won’t be long before we meet again as we work with you in your new and exciting role with ANA. And welcome to the HealthCom team, Lillee. We and the entire nursing community look forward to collaborating with you on American Nurse Today.
