The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning that terbutaline, indicated for asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema, should not be used in pregnant women for prevention or prolonged treatment of preterm labor because it can cause serious maternal heart problems and death. Oral terbutaline tablets should also not be used to the prevention or treatment of preterm labor. Read more here.
