This quarter, on behalf of our members, the Board of Directors:
- ANA-NY’s Elections closed this month; did you cast your vote for: President, Treasurer, two Directors, and three Nomination & Elections Committee members?
- President Dollinger continues to speak all over the State including the Regional Workforce Consortium representing the nursing perspective from ANA-NY.
- The ANA-NY Task Force on Health Equity (ANA-NY HET) applied for and received an $8,000 grant funding from ANA. This will be used for development and delivery of interactive workshops/training to educate nurses on health equity concepts.
- Treasurer’s Report showed: Total income is above budgeted and total expenses are below budget for the 2024 Third Quarter.
- Reviewed applications for American Nurses Advocacy Institute (ANAI), ANA-NY approved to sponsor Sarah Miner for the 2024-2025 session.
- President Dollinger suggested that all committees and SIGs given the option to pause during the summer to recharge unless any urgent or time-sensitive issues.

- The NP Modernization Act was set to sunset on April 1, 2024, but since the budget was delayed, standalone legislation was introduced and passed to extend the Act to April 1, 2026.
- ANA Membership Assembly (MA), and Hill Day was held June 27-29, 2024
- Orientation for ANA-NY representatives was held virtually and attended by the seven representatives and our Executive Director.
- New this year, MA voted using their own electronic devices via a downloaded app.
- The dues escalator was passed. There has not been a change in dues since 2015, however, the increases are minimal and will go into effect starting January 2025. Dues will increase by $9 for standard members and $7 for premier members. The increase for members will occur on the anniversary date of membership and will be split between ANA & ANA-NY.
- Hill Day focused on 4 bills including Restricting Mandatory OT for Nurses, Nursing Shortage Reduction Act, ICAN Act, and support for the CMS regs on LTC staffing. There was also a request to have House and Senate legislators from NYS join the Bipartisan Nursing Caucus.
- The Board voted to sponsor the Nurses House 9&Wine golf fundraiser sponsorship request as a Tee Sponsor for $500.
- Continued to participate in virtual and in-person leadership activities with ANA and other professional organizations. Schedule for the rest of the year is listed on ANA-NY website.
