Looking Ahead

In January 2025, I will move to the helm of our organization to serve as President. It has indeed been an honor to serve as President-elect under the Leadership of Dr. Angela Dykes. During Dr. Dykes’ tenure, we have experienced many firsts during our post-pandemic reopening. We have experienced return-to-face events, increased membership, formed an Acute Nursing Chapter, an inaugural 5K supporting nursing scholarships, formal celebrations of awards honoring the contributions of nurses and partners of nursing in our state, initiation of our racial reckoning journey and much more. Her efforts will leave a lasting impact on our organization and our state.

As we look ahead, I look forward to maintaining the storied history of advocacy and professional development for nurses throughout SC that has been the prominent goal of our organization. I also look forward to navigating a new age of innovation. We are progressing through societal changes such as the introduction of artificial intelligence for personal use and modes of increasing technology. It is important that we stay abreast of the impact of technology and innovation on nursing. I look forward to working with our Board to incorporate goals for innovation in our strategic plan; evaluating challenges and opportunities for growth; empowering leadership, professional, and personal development for members; emphasizing existing opportunities for new chapter formation and development through the national organization; increasing collaboration with other professional nursing and healthcare organizations; and, continuing efforts to increase membership and awareness regarding the impact of the association. I am thankful that our members have entrusted me to lead our organization through the upcoming term. I look forward to continued investments into the development of opportunities for nurses in our state.
