We are pleased to announce that COLLEEN BIDWELL from Los Alamitos Medical Center, who was nominated by Judy Chabot, has received the most votes this year in American Nurse Today’s Spirit of Caring recognition program.
Colleen is a patient advocate who exemplifies excellence in nursing care through her attentiveness and compassion for her patients…even as she fought through her own battle with cancer. Colleen has consistently exhibited exceptional fortitude that helps her team provide what is in the best interest of each patient. Through her leadership as a team captain for interventional procedures at her facility, Colleen assesses, educates and support patients prior to and during image-guided outpatient procedures. Patients consistently see her as an advocate, a wealth of resources and a compassionate listener.
Colleen also leads and coaches her team by example and has received 19 GEM Awards through the Los Alamitos Medical Center service excellent program.
Colleen’s colleagues comment that her spirit of caring is endless, and by continuing to provide outstanding nursing care…even returning to work in the midst of her personal fight with cancer certainly demonstrates “going above and beyond!”
Congratulations, Colleen! You will be receiving one year of unlimited CNE from one of our sponsors, CareerSmart, a complimentary subscription to American Nurse Today as well as a plaque that we hope will remind you every day what an important job you do!
